DNA methylation is a main epigenetic modification that modifies the function of the genes and thus affects gene expression through altering the chromosomal structure, DNA conformation and so on. Previous studies have demonstrated it is a popular research object, involving in many biological fields, such as embryonic development, cancer, and the influence of environmental factors on epigenetic inheritance. At CD BioSciences, we offer customized services for C. elegans research. N6-methyldeoxyadenine (6mA) is one of the most prevalent DNA modifications in eukaryotic genomes. Utilizing our C. elegans DNA m6A analysis services provide researchers with valuable insights into epigenetic DNA modifications.
DNA methylation is an important type of epigenetic modification, the most common types being 5-methylcytosine (5mC), 6-methyadenine (6mA), and 4-methylcytosine (4mC), greatly expanding the information content of DNA. However, DNA methylation was considered to be absent in C. elegans because of the lack of detectable DNA methylation on the fifth position of cytosine (5mC), which is one of the major regulatory mechanisms of epigenetic inheritance in many species. Previously, 6mA represents a part of restriction-modification systems, helping differentiate host genome from foreign DNA, and was believed to exist only in bacteria, protists, and other lower eukaryotes.

With the recent advent of more sensitive detection techniques, N6-methyldeoxyadenine (6mA) has also been detected in several eukaryotic organisms, including the cryptic nematode Hidradenitis elegans. Although the abundance of 6mA is quite low in the eukaryotic genome, these findings raised the exciting possibility that 6mA might serve as a conserved epigenetic mark across phyla. As a dynamic and reversible modification, 6mA plays an important role in gene expression regulation, development, and various biological processes.
With a team of experienced scientists, CD BioSciences is committed to providing comprehensive DNA 6mA analysis services to our global clients, providing information about C. elegans 6mA from different perspectives. Our services include but are not limited to:
